Our mission

islam.mu brings together the things Muslims in Mauritius look up most often — prayer times, a mosque directory, halal places, and clear learning material — in one free, ad-free place that is quick to use on a phone.

How prayer times are produced

Times are calculated in your browser from your chosen location using standard astronomical methods (Muslim World League by default), with the calculation method and adjustments under your control. They are estimates — the timetable of your local mosque takes precedence.

How content is sourced

Articles and timeline entries are written from established works of tafsir, hadith and history, and each page lists the sources used so you can check them. We keep to a strict aniconic policy: no depictions of the Prophet ﷺ, his companions, or other figures — only calligraphic medallions and neutral imagery.

Directory listings come from the community and are reviewed by a moderator before they are published. Anything that cannot be verified is left out rather than guessed.

How to contribute

• Add a mosque that is missing from the directory.
• Add a halal place — restaurant, butcher, grocery or bakery.
• Share a community event such as a lecture, iftar or fundraiser.
• Spot a mistake? Use the “Report a correction” button on any listing, or the contact form.
